Psychological Benefits
Dear Joe:
The ED LegSim is remarkable. As a hip disarticulation amputee, I never believed that I could walk without a heavy prosthesis or crutches that strain my shoulders. Thank you for letting me be one of the first to try your ingenious invention. It was quick and easy to learn to ambulate with the
ED
LegSim. Any fears I had rapidly dissipated and in just a few days, I was even walking up and down an incline.
As a psychologist, I believe there are immeasurable benefits emotionally when an amputee begins to
walk with the LegSim. So many times I have witnessed individuals in rehabilitation who became discouraged and/or depressed because they had to go to a wheelchair waiting for the construction of a prosthesis. If only every new amputee could experience the psychological benefits of standing and moving so freely. The ED
LegSim will aid in self confidence and improve motivation to ambulate. I am not aware of any other walker or crutches that give this kind of benefit and ease of movement without a prosthesis.
Thanks for your compassion, patience, and genius. I know that the ED
LegSim will prove to be one of the most innovative assistive aids for all amputees, especially those of us with high level amputations.
